I am working on a very special and also very challenging project at the moment, the ‘for whom’ and 'why’ will be revealed later. But I am able to tell you what I’m working on without revealing too much!
Right now, I am attempting to crochet a cover for a japanese style paper ball lampshade. In theory, it doesn’t sound too difficult. However in reality, it has been enjoyable though challenging so far.
I have found that in order to get the cover to fit snuggly but neatly, I need to stretch the cover over the shade. But the shade, being made of paper and collapsible, folds in on itself. The second problem is that the cover is often too large or too small, ending in folds all over.
I’m not going to lie, this has been my most difficult project this year and has definitely helped me push some boundaries, test my patience and made me THINK! When was the last time you really had to think while knitting or crocheting? In most cases, knitting or crochet is mechanical ( which is not a bad thing), but sometimes, especially when working on something complex like lace, your brain really has to work! And I’m getting the brain workout of the year!
I’m using KPC Novomerino in DK which I bought at The Crafties. Colours to be confirmed later as they are changing as I go along.
I can’t wait to see how this will turn out. Keep tuning in for updates and follow Instagram and Facebook for some sneak peaks as I go along as well as the final result.
